Yardley Riverside Garden
In 2024, the Spearhead Project Earth team announced the Yardley Riverside Garden project, funded by the American Water Charitable Foundation. This grant was instrumental in revitalizing a hidden gem located next to the Veterans Memorial at the intersection of East Afton Ave and Delaware Ave in Yardley Borough. Since 2024, many steps have been made to enhance this public access point by removing litter, making this location more enjoyable for the entire community. By planting native plants, we were successful in contributing to the reduction of runoff and erosion. In addition to landscaping efforts, a new trash bin was installed to reduce litter, a handrail was added next to the steps to improve accessibility to this spot, and seating was added to this green space.
In 2025, all invasive species were removed from the location and replaced with native shrubs, ferns, milkweeds, and wildflowers sourced from Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve and donations from Sherwood’s Seeds. Signage was added to the area regarding pollinators, the importance of planting native and species names. This project is ongoing with annual efforts made by Spearhead Project Earth.
